The 3rd Annual Trace Bittle Memorial Bass Fishing Tournament took place Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Pyramid Acres Marina on Lake of Egypt, drawing anglers from across the region.
The two-person team tournament, which featured a four-fish limit per boat, raises money for the Trace Bittle Scholarship Fund. The fund supports students at Marion High School, helping them pursue their educational goals in memory of Trace Oakley Bittle, who died in a car accident in 2021.

“It’s a really bittersweet feeling, seeing all of Trace’s friends here, but it lets me know he was really loved,” said Jerzy Bittle, Trace’s sister. “I love how they keep supporting every year. It means a lot to my family … he’d have the best time if he was here.”
Along with the fishing competition, the event featured an Easter egg hunt, bouncy houses, a silent auction, live music and food, creating a family-friendly atmosphere that celebrates Bittle’s life and legacy.

“We’ve had families come that have never come before,” said Missy Bittle, Trace’s mother. “They got to hear about Trace and our story and what we are about, and what we are doing and how we are giving scholarships to kids at Marion High School. It’s been wonderful.”
