John A. Logan College hosted its annual World Music and Food Day on April 23, 2025, bringing together performances, dance, and global cuisine for students and community members.

The event opened with Morikeba Kouyate, born and raised in Bounkiling, Senegal, performing alongside guest musician Larry Millard, a member of the Southern Illinois West African Drumming Ensemble. Kouyate played the kora, a traditional African stringed instrument he has mastered since childhood.
