A season that has rarely given the Lady Vols an easy night offered another hard lesson Wednesday. John A. Logan College clawed its way in front with a third-quarter surge, then watched the finish slip away in a 61-49 loss to Olney Central College at Southeastern Illinois College Feb. 18, 2026.
Olney Central led 30-25 at halftime, but Logan flipped the game after the break, outscoring the Blue Knights 16-8 in the third quarter to take a 41-38 lead entering the fourth. The Blue Knights answered with a 23-8 final period to pull away late.
Forward Gracyn Morris said Logan’s preparation centered on scouting Olney Central’s sets and expects another meeting down the road. “We went over their plays a lot and what to do defensively, and we’ll end up seeing them again in regionals at their place,” Morris said. “So hopefully we can get them back.”
Morris said she battled frustration during the game, but credited her coaches with keeping her focused. “I definitely was frustrated, but my coaches just kept me in the game and just to control my temper,” she said.
The loss dropped John A. Logan to 9-11 overall, 3-5 in conference play and 3-7 in region games. The Lady Vols have lost two straight.
John A. Logan returns to action at Rend Lake College at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21.
