Wabash Valley turned a fast start into a wire-to-wire win Wednesday, building a 16-point halftime lead and defeating John A. Logan 79-66 Feb. 4.
The Warriors opened with a 22-12 first quarter and carried a 37-21 advantage into the break. Wabash Valley kept the pressure on in the third, scoring 26 points to push the lead to 63-40 entering the fourth quarter.
John A. Logan made its best run late, outscoring Wabash Valley 26-16 in the final period, but could not erase the early deficit. Wabash Valley scored 22, 15, 26 and 16 points by quarter, while Logan scored 12, 9, 19 and 26.
The loss dropped the Lady Vols to 8-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play. John A. Logan is 0-2 in division play and 3-5 in region games, and is 4-4 at home, 3-5 on the road and 1-0 at neutral sites.
